Today a group of a dozen National Anarchists took part in a demonstration protesting the abuse of children at the Folsom Street Fair and Up Your Alley events. Each year thousands of people are at risk of unintentionally walking into sado masochist acts performed by thousands of adults that come to San Francisco the world over for an event that is supposed to be for adults, only. While we have no problem with adults engaging in risky behavior if that is their prerogative we have a serious problem with people that bring children to this event and for people that accidentally stumble upon it.
We demonstrated against this event with the purpose of expressing outrage at what minors witness at these events. The media, City government, and even our Senator and Representative in the House, are acting in collusion to make sure that the word of what really goes on at this event does not reach a wide audience. In our view it is sickening that the officials in charge with protecting and serving the interests of our community turn a blind eye to exploitative and manipulative events to curry favor with a minority voting group. The Bay Area National Anarchists demand that the City introduce statutes into law that require the organizers of Folsom Street Fair and Up Your Alley to check ID at the gates of the event and prohibit entry to these events to anyone under eighteen years of age. Anything less than this is irresponsible when the probability of sexual harassment, assault, disease, and STD infection which are skyrocketing in San Francisco due to "events" like these. As concerned residents of this city and the Bay Area we feel that it is the priority of the community to aggressively defend itself from opportunists enriching themselves from the suffering and resulting incurable ill health of others. What matters to us most however is what happens to children who at great risk at these events when taken home by their "parents" or if they should get lost or assaulted. This is not an unreasonable possibility that must be at the back of Mayor Gavin Newsom's mind each year. With the almost complete media blackout on all the major news outlets, this event attracted 400,000 people last year, can't help but make a person wonder what the agenda of the City government and ethics of the news organizations that report on events of this size.
For the record, we will again state that our protest is not with homosexuals or so-called alternative lifestyles. We genuinely don't care what adults do with their life however we recognize that this event is spreading diseases and threatening children in a way that we believe most gays and lesbians will agree is a reasonable expectation.
For visitors that are new to the Bay Area National Anarchists and the National Anarchist movement we believe that the fundamental crisis effecting our society, economy, and community, in the globalized world- can no longer be solved by the liberal democratic notions of progress and change. It is time that Americans reorganize themselves according to the political outlook that most accurately reflects their views. If this means Alaska leaves the Union then Alaska leaves the Union. If California has interests inherently at odds with the core beliefs of other States of the United States it is time to say farewell to incompatible political agendas. If you sympathize with this statement or would like to find out more about the Bay Area National Anarchists feel free to join our forum, browse the archive of blog posts and visit affiliated websites. National Anarchists come from many backgrounds and we encourage a diverse range of opinions on political subjects. Where we stand united is in our belief in the completely unsatisfactory results provided by all levels of the United States government. We are building a movement that defies the political status quo and make our demands known to the people we represent and voice our expectations for how a sane society is organized.
We challenge our people to take back America from the clutches of the liberal and neoconservative waste of space and time that dominates political discourse in this country. We are National Anarchists.
